Located on the eastern tip of Alameda, the quiet Gingko tree-lined streets of Alameda’s East End showcase larger, well-maintained Tudor, Victorian and Mediterranean-style single-family homes.

Originally settled by people from New England in the 1850s, the East End is one of Alameda's oldest neighborhoods. It seems only fitting, since Edison Elementary, one of the best schools in the state is located here, that the island's very first school, a one-room cabin, opened here in the same location that Lincoln Middle School sits today.

A recent influx of families with young children has brought new vitality to the area, while older families continue to add stability. Residents often plan block parties, Halloween celebrations and the well-known Christmas Tree Lane on Thompson Avenue offers decorated homes and a real, live Santa Claus every December. Close to the shops of Park Street, and home to Krusi and Lincoln Parks, the East End is a perfect family-oriented neighborhood.
